My my My my

This spring our youth baseball and softball programs will be joining the Tri-Town Baseball League.  This league is based out of Litchfield and also includes towns such as Thomaston, Terryville, and Watertown. This baseball league consists of minor league teams (Players age 8 to 11) and major league teams (Players age 9-12). Participating in this league will allow us more flexibility when creating rosters as opposed to leagues that are set up in one year age increments. Our Diamond Ball program will still be available for players 7 years old and younger.  We are still working on the softball side but teams look to consist of 8u and 10u players.

The number of registered players we have in our program will determine the number of teams that we put in the league. Based on registration numbers from last season, we might be able to create two minor league teams and one major league. Due to the fact that this is a new league and we are trying to create rosters it is important that all players register as soon as possible. This will help the transition go smoothly and allow the planning process to begin. The online registration process is the same as last year. The online registration has been opened and can be accessed through the email that was sent to returning players last week. New players can access the registration through the Shepaug Baseball and Softball website (www.shepaugbaseballsoftball.com).

The timeline for the season will likely be the end of March through the end of May. We are planning on playing between 12 to 15 games for the major league team and slightly less for the minor league teams. There will likely be one game and one practice during the week as well as one game or practice on Saturdays. Game times and locations will be decided when the league holds their scheduling meeting in the next few weeks.

Playing Shepaug youth baseball and softball this spring will be a great experience for players of all ability levels. There will be a focus on sportsmanship, skill development, and team play. All players will be given the opportunity to improve their skills and compete at a developmentally appropriate level, while having fun! We look forward to seeing everyone out on the fields this spring!

Thank You,
